Renowned Indian violinist L. Subramaniam has a progressive approach to fusion and jazz, as demonstrated on this lesser-known release from a brief MCA imprint managed by the Crusaders. Collaborating with keyboardists Herbie Hancock, Stu Goldberg, George Cables, and Ronnie Foster, along with renowned studio musicians, Subramaniam also features a solo by saxophonist John Handy (a pioneer in blending Eastern and Western music) on the track "Roots."
