Description
Prior to his famous silver sparkle Telecasters and appearance on Hee-Haw, Buck Owens was an up-and-coming performer in the Bakersfield bar scene. His 1961 self-titled debut LP on Capitol Records, featuring the hit singles "Second Fiddle," "Under Your Spell Again," "Above and Beyond," and "Excuse Me (I Think I've Got a Heartache)," showcases his signature hard-edged honky tonk sound. With Buck on electric guitar, Ralph Mooney on steel guitar, studio fiddler Jelly Sanders, and future Buckaroo Don Rich on fiddle, this album displays a remarkably mature level of talent.
