Cannonball Adderley's Sharpshooters, who recorded three studio albums for the EmArcy label, were a formidable jazz band in the 1950s. Featuring pianist Junior Mance, bassist Sam Jones, and drummer Jimmy Cobb, the Adderleys and their quintet were easily on par with any jazz group of the time. Sporting a soul-jazz/hard bop sound, tunes such as "Our Delight," "Stay on It," and "If I Love Again" showcase the ensemble's mastery of post-Charlie Parker music in particular.
