This album evokes a sense of intimacy and vastness, with "Space Song"'s keyboards suggesting stars in the sky. Beach House returns to their artificial sound, creating a contrast with Legrand's lush vocals. Her ability to sound comforting and heartbreaking on "Levitation" and "Days of Candy" showcases the sensuous nature of Depression Cherry's melancholy. Further into the album, Scally and Legrand reintroduce some of Bloom's fullness with "PPP" and "Sparks."
