Saxophonist Sonny Stitt's 1975 album "Dumpy Mama" for Flying Dutchman is an example of his influential jazz playing. The LP features Stitt, tenorist Pee Wee Ellis, altoist Frank Strozier, pianist Mike Wofford, bassist Brian Torff, and drummer Shelly Manne, with Stitt playing alto on the track "It Might as Well Be Spring." The album showcases a variety of the jazz styles Stitt had explored, such as bebop, soul jazz, and blues. Highlights include the title cut, "Danny Boy for Ben," "Just Friends," and his own composition, "Jason."
