The debut of the Pretenders' Mark Three in 1986 introduced a mature and professional Chrissie Hynde with her talented band. Get Close, with its tight performances and polished sound, lacks some of the edginess of their previous albums. However, Hynde's voice shines in songs like "How Much Did You Get for Your Soul?", "Don't Get Me Wrong", and "I Remember You", while her exploration of parenthood adds depth to the album. While not as striking as their previous work, Get Close still showcases the Pretenders' musical prowess.
