Haruomi Hosono, an iconic figure in modern Japanese pop music, is known for his musical expertise and curiosity. Growing up in Tokyo, he was passionate about American culture, which later led to his involvement in Apryl Fool and then Happy End. In 1973, Hosono released his debut solo album, Hosono House. It featured his take on Americana, recorded at his home in Sayama, Saitama Prefecture. Formerly occupied by US troops, this small community was filled with creatives by the early '70s. Hosono House contains a variety of styles, from folk to funk, and has earned praise from musicians.
