Slug Guts' Howlin' Gang takes a dark and nihilistic approach to post-punk, featuring tom-heavy percussion, jagged guitars, and snarling vocals. Recorded in just a week with minimal overdubbing, the album has a raw, live feel with empty space playing a big part. The sleazy pseudo-ballads "Down in the Mornin' Sun" and "Angie" (featuring guest vocalists from Circle Pit and Blank Realm) add some variety, but the majority of the album is filled with disturbing and satisfying cacophonous bashing.
