The fusion of jazz and hip-hop, as well as acid-jazz, continues to produce captivating but unpredictable projects. The Solsonics stand out with their incorporation of iconic jazz songs like "Red Clay" by Freddie Hubbard and "Superstition" by Ahmad Jamal, along with their impressive instrumentals and remixes. The saxophonist Jim Akimoto, trumpeter Elliot Caine, keyboardist Mike Boito, and special guest guitarist Norman Brown all deliver outstanding solos. However, when vocals are introduced, the quality falters as they were unable to find a lyricist who could match their musical talent. Nevertheless, their passion, energy, and chemistry are so remarkable that the cliche lyrics and mediocre vocals can be overlooked.
