Flutist Herbie Mann brought together an accomplished sextet in the late '60s, a group that included vibraphonist Roy Ayers, tenor saxophonist Steve Marcus, guitarist Sonny Sharrock, bassist Miroslav Vitous and drummer Bruno Carr. Live At The Whisky A Go Go is a record that is out-of-print, clocking in at under 30 minutes long, but the two extended improvisations, "Ooh Baby" and "Philly Dog", are undeniably groovy, fun and full of energy, making this record one of Mann's top achievements of the era.
