Tone-Loc's distinct sound and laid-back flow made him the first rapper to reach #1 on the pop charts and be certified platinum. "Wild Thing" and "Funky Cold Medina," from his debut album Loc'd After Dark, were Top 10 Pop hits. "Wild Thing" peaked at #1, while "Medina" topped out at #3, and Loc'd After Dark became the second rap album ever to reach #1 (following the Beastie Boys' License to Ill).
