As the first two albums may be considered seminal, 'Master of Reality' stands out as the band's true classic in terms of quality. While 'Black Sabbath' and 'Paranoid' showcased heavy blues and psychedelic blues, respectively, it is with 'Master of Reality' that the band fully embraces their coined 'heavy metal' sound. Right from the start, the album boasts chugging, down-tuned, fuzzy riffs that have become synonymous with the genre today. Surprisingly, this is also their only true heavy metal album, despite the presence of blues and rock and roll in their Ozzy-era catalogue.
