My Babe is an album by jazz saxophonist Bunky Green recorded in Chicago in 1960 but not released on the Vee-Jay label until 1965. It was also released on the label subsidiary Exodus Records in 1966.
This is a welcome reissue from a distinctive alto player who did not record a lot as a leader, and who is best known for a series of well-regarded Vanguard releases from the late '70s and for his career as a jazz educator. The superior hard bop date was originally released in 1960 as a Bunky Green Sextet date entitled Step High. This reissue of Vee-Jay's 1965 packaging of the same six tracks includes pianist Wynton Kelly's name on the marquee, but the leader is clearly Green.
