The 2024 debut album of the Melbourne instrumental trio Badinage, 'Once Upon A Time' presents a diverse, ambient soundscape, meandering between shoegaze, laid-back country, grunge and even diverging into rock opera.
The trio consists of Simon Capp on cello, Matt Omond on drums, and Dave Reid on guitar, but at no point is there truly a 'lead' instrument in the group. The album consists of ten 'chapters,' split into Book One & Two, all of which follow a tangible narrative structure.
