Pres

Pres is an impromptu gathering of unidentified tapes apparently taped by Lester Young in his later years. All Young recordings possess value, but this is certainly not one of his most noteworthy productions. His execution is rough and inconsistent, and the same is true for his accompaniment. Additionally, the tapes are hissy and degraded, making it a difficult listen. Furthermore, the lack of information concerning the origin of these sessions is particularly bothersome. With this in mind, only die-hard Pres enthusiasts -- the kind who appreciate a bit of detective work -- should pursue this release.
