Led by renowned pianist
McCoy Tyner, this trio also included bassist Henry Grimes and
drummer Roy Haynes. The set features two of Tyner's compositions ("Reaching Fourth" and "Blues Back"), as well as three standards and "Theme For Ernie." Tyner was among the most influential pianists making waves in the 1960s, along with Bill Evans. His signature chord progressions and captivating ability to improvise made history. Although not as intense as other Tyner projects, this performance is still powerful 35 years later.
