The LOX’s 2000 single “Recognize” is from their sophomore studio album, We Are the Streets. The single was the Yonker’s supergroups’ first time working with Preemo after being released from Bad Boy after the “Let the LOX Go” campaign.
Preemo programed the instrumental while on tour with Gang Starr. He had the idea to sample The LOX’s 1999 single “Ryde or Die,” where the group rapped, “Ruff Ryders, don’t get it twisted ya’ll,” celebrating their independence from the Bad Boy label.
