Formed by Brazilian soap opera star Pedro Martins in 1999, Bazeado is based in Brighton, UK. This five-piece ensemble use traditional rhythms such as Baiao, Samba and Batucada to create a unique, modern vision of Brazilian music. All of Bazeado's songs are original compositions, and the band members have experience in groups such as Cubana Bop, Bah Samba and Carnival Collective. Hailing from Sao Paulo, Martins is a singer, guitarist and percussionist who originally signed to Som Livre. Like Gilberto Gil and Lenine, his work is inspired by classic, often overlooked Brazilian rhythms such as Maracatu and Baiao played by Jackson Do Pandeiro and Luiz Gonzaga.
