So Far was a stopgap release by Atlantic Records while waiting for a new Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young album to accompany their summer 1974 tour. Although the quartet had been working on a potentially great album, creative differences led to the release of this compilation album, which sold well due to the band's stadium tour and popular singles "Ohio" and "Find the Cost of Freedom". While still enjoyable and featuring iconic cover art, this album is now outdated in the 21st century due to its incomplete selection of songs from previous albums.
