Stormwatch, the third installment of Jethro Tull's "folk trilogy" and a significant part of the band's 1970s repertoire, strayed from its signature folk sound and embraced a darker and more ominous tone. This is evident not only in the menacing cover art featuring Ian Anderson's binoculars gazing upon stormy clouds, but also in the prescient lyrics that touch upon the looming threat of climate change in songs like "North Sea Oil" and "Dark Ages".
Stormwatch marks the final album from the widely recognized classic line-up of Jethro Tull, including members Anderson, Barre, Evan, Barlow, and Glascock. Sadly, Glascock passed away at the young age of twenty-eight due to a congenital heart condition, just two months after the album's release.
