Herbie Hancock's 1970s jazz-funk records, after Man-Child, grew commercial & less stimulating. Even though the back cover of Sunlight LP showcases many collectors' items, Hancock minimalizes their use. He focuses mostly on his vocoder-processed singing voice. Songs like "I Thought It Was You," "Come Running to Me," & the title track showcase this. Hancock also relies on self-arranged brass & strings with backup bands from Headhunters alumni to Tony Williams & Jaco Pastorius.
