Temptations (2LP)

Freestyle Fellowship, made up of MCs Aceyalone, Mikah Nine, Self-Jupiter, and P.E.A.C.E (who sits out for most of this album), have gained legendary status in the West Coast hip-hop underground by performing at renowned clubs like L.A.'s Good Life. Temptations, their third album, has been long-awaited and showcases the group's exceptional mic skills, which haven't dulled since their last album in 1993. However, the uncompromising tone of tracks like "No Hooks No Chorus" may have hindered the album, as the focus primarily on lyrics and raw, repetitive beats can make it difficult for listeners to get through some of the songs. While it's hard to deny the talent of each MC, especially the nimble Aceyalone, their argument on "Best Rapper in the World" could have been even more impactful with a touch more variety in the music.
