Freestyle Fellowship's debut album offers a glimpse into the subcultural side of Los Angeles hip-hop, before it was overtaken by gangsta boogie. The rhymes from De La Soul and The Pharcyde are snapshots of the genre's purity before it became mainstream. Although To Whom It May Concern... lacks the hard-hitting beats, songs like "Jupiter's Journey" and "Sunshine Men" showcase Self-Jupiter and J. Sumbi's rhyme flows. However, the album shines when the group collaborates, such as on the high-speed "Convolutions" and "We Will Not Tolerate". Each member of Freestyle Fellowship brings their own skills, but together they truly shine.
